I'm running a bit behind on party prparations. I had a big race weekendonly two weeks after a rather disappointing race weekend.

The Revel Alliance will be gathering on October 9th, 2004, at the Family Estate, in Felton.
Other than the date of the party, and the theme, the plans are still very much in flux. If you would like to perform as a musician, dancer, magician etc. let me know. There will be a potluck before the party, and the theme of both the potluck and the party will be:
Spicy and Exotic

In the afternoon, starting noonish, (show up at 12:30) I'll be doing an Dance fundamentals class. The goal of this class will be to get people to the point where they can dance socially. I'm working on some ideas for different than usual ways of teaching, and would really appreciate folks of all levels of experience in the class.

After the class, will be the Spicy and Exotic Potluck.

To cool off your palate after the spicy food, I will be firing up the half horsepower milkshake machine, so bring milkshake makings: icecream, malt, fruit, milk, cream ...

At about 10:00 PM we'll do a traditional birthday gift toss in honor of Miel's birthday. Bring small, inexpensive, toys and gifts to be thrown from the balcony to the throngs below. Anybody else with a birthday around then that wants to throw toys, let me know.

If you tell us that you are coming, we'll keep you posted of any developments.

Several people have asked about rides from San Francisco, Oakland, Portland and a few other places. If you need a ride, or can offer a ride, let me know and I'll try and put you in touch with each other.

I've set up a rideboard at: http://www.livejournal.com/users/revelrsvp/619.html

My house is not inherently "child safe". There is a highway on one side and a cliff on the other. I have various small, hard and sharp toys lying about. If you bring a child, of any age, be prepared to watch it. If there are several folks with children and want to share babysitting duty, I'll help you arrange that amongst yourselves.

I've set up a babysitting board at: http://www.livejournal.com/users/revelrsvp/1115.html

What is going to be happening at this party?

If you're a guy and have a kilt or shorts, bring them, we may have a MacDude bonny knees contest.

THERE WILL BE DANCING. I have a dancefloor and know how to use it. Most of our dance music is either lindy/swing/blues or Victorian. If you have music that you want to dance to, bring it. I do have a bit of Irish music so if any of the ceilidh dancers want to show up, teach, dance, perform ... do let me know.

This music is ready to go if you have any requests, do let us know. If you'd like to propose setlists of the above, that would be great.

If you want to dance, but don't know how, come to the dance class in the afternoon.

Jeff and Nissa Mohler won't be able to make it but their gas powered blender for making margaritas and other fru fru drinks will be here. Fru-fru drink supplies, bear a close resemblance to milkshake supplies, so if you bring them, we can make high or low octane goodies with them. Anybody wanna drive the daqueri whacker?

It has been quite a while since Fizzball has been played at one of my parties. The parking lot at the church across the street has been chained off to cars when they aren't using it, so it would make a fine fizzball field. So if people bring fizzbeer and fizzbats, we could have a game. (anybody got some good links to fizzball?)

If you don't know how to get to my house, send me email asking for directions, and I'll send you a pointer to the magic URL. If you don know how to get to my house, please park in the pullout down the street.

I will try to find time to post details as they are known at http://www.red4est.com/party

As always, people are encouraged to stay at the Family estate rather than driving in an unsafe condition. If you expect to achieve a non-safe status, please plan accordingly and let us know ahead of time.

If you can show up, or want further updates, send email to lrcparty@red4est.com

Please park in the pullout south of my house, so that folks with difficulty walking, or folks that have to unload large objects, can use the driveway. When you park, please do so in such a way that my neighbors can get their own cars in and out as well.

I'm trying an experiment, rather than using evite, which is pretty obnoxious, I set up an LJ with entries that folks can comment on:

Blatant plea for money
or rather: Excellent sponsorship Opportunity

As you may know I race a spec miata. Spec Miata is a class with a restrictive set of rules which keeps the costs relatively inexpensive. I'm entered in a race at Laguna Seca the weekend after my party. There are currently 59 Spec Miatas entered in the two support races that weekend. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to run this race, and will probably have to withdraw my entry. If you've ever been interested in sponsoring a racecar, this will be an excellent, and relatively inexpensive opportunity to get your company name on a car, in and exciting race, in front of a large audience.

In addition, I'd be happy to bring my racecar to your place of business, or put on a lecture on driving for your employees, or customers. I've been teaching performance driving for 14 years, and have even written a textbook on the subject.
